Ranger Guided Walks; July, August & September, 2010

Steall Falls Thursday 15th July & Monday 16th August. 1pm-4.30pm. Adults £5, Concessions £3. Travel along the old stalkers path to fantastic views of Glen Nevis Gorge and An Steall, the magnificent waterfall. Not suitable for children under 10 yrs.


Butterflies on the Ben Tuesday 20th July, 10.30am-3.30pm. Free. (Meet at the end of Glen Nevis.)  Join us on a journey to the coire where Britain's only high altitude butterfly the mountain ringlet lives. Bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing/footwear. (John Muir Trust)


Half Way Lochan and the North Face Thursday 22nd July, 19th August & 16th September. 10am-4pm. Adults £5, Concessions £3. Enjoy a walk and wonderful views to Lochan Meall an t’Suidhe, then into below the North face of Ben Nevis. Bring a packed lunch and suitable footwear/clothing required.


Slate Paths Tuesday 27th July, 10.30am-12.30pm. Adults £3, Concessions £2. (Meet at Ballachulish Tourist Information Centre.) Discover Ballachulish’s past as you walk through the slate quarry and into Brecklett.

 


Allt a Mhuilinn & the North Face Thursday 29th July. 10 am-3pm. Adults £5, Concessions £3. (Meet at the North Face Car Park, Torlundy.) Enjoy fine views of the majestic North face of Ben Nevis and discover the history and geology of this iconic mountain. Bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing/footwear.

 

Dun Deardail Thursday 5th August 11am-3pm. Adults £5, Concessions £3. A forest walk along the West Highland Way to the site of an ancient Iron Age Fort, Dun Deardail. Bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing/footwear.


Glen Nevis Venture Friday 13th, 20th & 27th August & Friday 3rd  of September. 10.30am-12.30pm. Adults £3, Concessions £2. Join the ranger for this riverbank and woodland ramble to learn more about the history, wildlife and scenery of Glen Nevis

 

Water Vole Wander Tuesday 17th August. 11am-3.30pm. Free. Walk with us to view an amazing world of underground burrows and water vole runs. Find out why these special creatures are so threatened and why the highlands are their refuge. Bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing/footwear. (John Muir Trust)

 

Bat and Moth Night Monday 13th September. 7.30pm-9.30pm Adults £3, Concessions £2. Join the rangers in Glen Nevis to discover the amazing moths and the bats in Glen Nevis. Bring warm waterproof clothing and a torch.

All walks meet at Glen Nevis Visitor Centre, unless otherwise stated.
